A new crop for the future of agriculture: A hybrid that could replace a corn stalk

New research has identified the plant that could revolutionise the way we grow and harvest food in the future.

In a paper published in the journal Nature Ecology and Evolution, researchers have described a new crop that mimics a plant stalk in its growth and yields, allowing farmers to produce food with less pesticides and herbicides and more yields than conventional crops.

The hybrid is called the super-corn, and it’s a new species that mimicks the root system of a corn plant.

“We have found a new and very promising hybrid plant that can mimic a root system and yield the same amount of food, the same quality, and at a much lower cost,” lead author Andrew Cottrell, a biologist at the University of California, Davis, told CNN.

“The root system is very similar to corn, which is one of the biggest challenges in growing crops today.”

He said the plant could be a key element in the fight against climate change.

“The super-corns have been around for more than 30 years.

They’re very important, and there are a lot of things we can do to make them more productive,” he said.

“They’re also quite small and very fast-growing.

So they’re an attractive crop for farmers and people looking for a way to make money.”

The new plant is already being cultivated in South Africa, and Cottell said he believes it will be introduced into other countries in the coming years.

He said it is a big step forward, as corn plants are a common staple in developing countries.

“There’s still some way to go before super-crops can be commercially grown.

But this is the beginning of the path to producing food with a little more respect for the planet, and a little bit more respect to the fact that this crop is not just a vegetable,” he added.

Cottrell and his team studied the hybrid to find out how it grows.

They took samples of the roots of the supercorn and found the roots were grown from a single cell.

To test the root structure, they also compared it to a corn root that was grown from an ovary, where the root is a single-cell.

They found the root of the hybrid was the same size as a corn stem.

“This was a really interesting result, and that we can get really good results from a very simple plant,” Cottrel said.

The researchers say that the new hybrid has potential to help farmers, who are already struggling to find new ways to grow food, grow faster.

“If you grow the root that’s the same as the corn, you’re going to have the same crop, but if you grow it from an egg, you can expect the same yield,” he told CNN’s The Situation Room.

“And if you have a root that has a very large root mass, you’ll get more nutrients.

And this has been demonstrated in experiments with fruit crops, which are grown from seed and fertilised, and they get better yield and quality.”

Cottrel hopes the supercrops will be used in fields to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute to climate change and are estimated to cause one-fifth of global warming.

There is a need for better agricultural practices, he added, but it also needs to be about sustainability, not just for the environment.

“I think the whole agricultural industry needs to do more to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases they’re putting into the atmosphere, and then we can have sustainable farming practices that are sustainable for the next 100 years,” he concluded.
