In the United States, the U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that the country has over 100 million acres of farmland that are devoted to corn and soybeans.
But many farmers aren’t as concerned about the future of the agricultural industry as they are about the current crop crisis.
“This is the largest and most important commodity in the world right now,” says Daniel Boulud, a former agronomist and a fellow at the Urban Institute.
“It’s a commodity that we’ve had for so long that we’re now basically going to have to get rid of it if we’re going to survive.”
Boulud was an advisor to the USDA’s Farm Service Agency for the past six years and is currently a professor at the University of California, Berkeley.
He is the author of the book, A Year of Crisis: What You Can Do About the Farm Crisis in the United Kingdom.
In the UK, agricultural policy is more focused on food security and food security is the main concern of the government, he says.
In the US, however, agriculture has become the primary focus of government policy, Bouloud says.
“The USDA and the Farm Service Administration, for the most part, have a more strategic view of the food supply and agriculture and agriculture as a sector, and food is the big concern.”
The problem is that the U,S.
is one of the most genetically rich countries in the developed world, Boulsud says.
The United States also has a huge agricultural sector.
“There are some of the biggest food conglomerates in the country and they’re not doing very well.
The problem is we’re not as good as other countries in terms of the technology and the technology is not that good.”
He adds that the problem with food security isn’t the lack of corn, soy, or wheat, but that food systems are not as efficient.
“The U.K. government spends less on food subsidies and has fewer food inspectors, fewer inspectors per hectare,” Bouluds says.
But there is an issue with food systems, as there is in the US.
“What we’ve got to worry about is the fact that the farmers don’t have the same technology that the people do,” he says, noting that he’s also concerned about how the USDA is planning to implement its new plan for food security in the U.,S.
A recent study by the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy found that the current food system is not meeting the needs of the country’s growing population.
Bouludd says that’s why farmers are worried.
“We’re seeing a huge increase in food insecurity.
There’s no doubt about that,” he adds.
The United Kingdom, which is expected to overtake the United, States, as the world’s top producer of corn this year, will also be facing an increased demand for food due to the food shortage, Bowers says.
Broughton says the UK is “not at all in the picture” with the issue.
“I don’t think the British government is prepared to do much to address the problem.
I think that’s going to be a very hard time for the UK,” he said.
